Mara Blom Schantz (continued)
After earning my B.A. in journalism from San Diego State University, I decided I wanted to do work to help underserved children, ending up at the University of San Francisco School of Law. After graduating from USF Law, I worked in the area of children’s law for three years, finally ending up at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office where I represented the State in abuse and neglect cases. Although I loved the job at the A.G.’s office, I felt compelled to leave after having my first child. My photography genes and background kicked in after he was born and I began to document every stage of his growth. Soon I was documenting my friends’ children as well.

My goal in photographing children and families is to show the emotion that goes along with being a parent. My greatest joy in life has been to watch my little boys. Someday when my little boys are grown, I want to look at the images on my walls remember what it was like to hold them in my arms, touch their hair, wipe their tears, hear their laughter and be their mother. I hope to create that for you. I believe that there is no greater love that a parent has than for their child and I would like to help you preserve your memories of this time.
